Clutch disk differences?

Hi -
I'm replacing my clutch disk due to a trans. oil leak which contaminated the old one - which wasn't that old! I had recently installed a new Sachs power clutch w/the alumin. pressure plate. The new disk however, looks a bit different than the old one - see photos below. The old one that came w/the Sachs power clutch kit is the one with the ridges on the surface while the new one is smooth. Aside from the surfaces, are there any other differences that I should be concerned about?

Thanks a lot,
Tom

Nothing to worry about. Standard/street clutch disc friction material is typically segmented nowadays. You shouldn't notice any difference in the clutch feel. The solid disc material is preferred for more surface area. So you're actually now going to use a "better" disc. But given the HP our engines produce? You're not going to exceed the capabilities of a segmented disc.

Thanks for your response Kevin. You mean my 165hp won't over power the clutch! : ))) My thought was that more surface area was better too, but maybe the segmented one is better at cooling? As long as it will work, that's all I really care about at the moment.

Thanks,
Tom
