Cibie Pallas
I struggled a bit in deciding on mounting these. I really like the fender mounting option as per this awesome 911. Can't recall the owner.
![]() I like the idea of taking the road less traveled so to speak. Most Pallas are mounted on the hood. Good reason not to do it. Only have one side shot. Obviously, they need internal adjusting. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers you guys!! Thanks for looking! Mark Morrissey

Thanks a lot Andy
Yes it is. I have been submersing myself in old steering wheels to make up for not having the car. I'm just excited to have this project finally moving again. Which brings me to the most important thing: I won't be too long and I'll be driving it.

Wow, I can't wait to see that done, I noticed you got your floorboards and pedals from Jerry!

I think it was Jerry
Off ebay. I bought the floorboards and he messed up the shipping so he gave me the pedals. Nice deal overall because the boards were half the usual price and don't have a logo on them.

What do you have planned for belts? Are you doing a partial cage, simple 4 point roll bar, harness bar, or what? I know that you are quite safety conscious, so I was wondering. I recommend using a DOT belt and shoulder strap arrangement on the street, because hooking up a race harness every time you get in and out will take a lot of the fun out of driving the car. Been there, done that, what an unbelievable PIA! That was on my 78 Fiesta Ice Car, when I briefly had to run it as a street car for a while.(hard times back up) I finally dug out a set of DOTs from one of my parts cars and put them in. On my current car, obviously 98% of the time it's just a fun street car, so I left all the DOT stuff alone. This results in less rattling, easy quick hook ups, and no state inspection issues. I believe in some states race belts are not approved for street use, they require a DOT approved belt set up, usually in the original OEM factory configuration, in order to pass state inspection. I have heard mixed responses on the Police scrutiny, in "click it or ticket" states. Make sure you know what your local laws are, so this doesn't blind side you when you go to get your inspection. Though I leave my 4 point bolt in bar in the car 24/7, I take out the removable diagonal and harness bar for street use. The back seat in a 94/04 Mustang is nearly as useless as a 911 for human use, but it does make getting groceries in and out a lot easier if I use it, instead of the trunk. If you do get a bar, and plan to drive on the street, you will not be protected by a helmet. Please make sure the bar is back far enough so that if you do have an accident helmet-less on the street, that your head can not ever even get close to the bar. Padding will not save you, zero contact will.

Sorry!
I forgot to tell you we made it through IKE ok. No house damage, one broken pine tree that didn't hit anything, several broken branches, blown down privacy fences, debris everywhere, and NO POWER STILL! I bought a generator, and paid way too much money for it, but I have power. I have never seen weather like that IN MY LIFE! It was actually a little unsettling when the gusts would peak! An incredible amount of damage has been done to a VERY LARGE AREA!

Hello Jimmy
I definitely have a few decisions to make. The original plan was for the full Kirk bolt in cage with 6 point Sabelt harness. This is the harness I have, only in black, not red.
![]() I don't plan for a lot of street use. But there will be some of course. And knowing me, I'll be driving it more than I am admitting here. I guess I figured that enough padding on the bars in the right area would do the trick as far as safety is concerned. I am now considering just going with the rear section of the cage. By the way, the car didn't make it to the paint shop Saturday as planned. Now I have to wait another week and hope for next Saturday, Sept. 27th. Crap! The car has historic plates and here in New Jersey, won't be required to have an inspection. So I don't need the DOT seat belts though they may find there way back in the car again at some point. Anyway, I am concerned about safety and will be very careful as to the final setup. I'll let you know what happens. Later, Mark

Dash board and gauges
I actually had a pretty nice dash set up before. I had changed the stock dash to a black felt with a vinyl trim like you see on some race cars. It got fried when we welded up the hole where the sun roof was. You can't see it very well, but here is a before photo.
![]() So, now the new dash is similar but the cover is a kind of a faux suede. No glove box door, put in a cutoff switch, and I had to have the 10,000 RPM tach with the 180 mph speedo. I came very close to putting in authentic ones, but, I couldn't justify the cost. These are from Hollywood. They look nice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Speaking of dash boards
This is the cockpit of a 917. Check out the Momo prototipo. What a beautiful wheel. I don't know about you, but, this is the kind of car that really gets my blood flowing.

Odds & ends
Here are a few things that will be added soon I hope. These are some really nice little touches that should add a lot to the overall appearance of the car.
911R plastic quarter windows with vent and drip tray; glue in type — as you can see, they're not in yet. I couldn't resist placing them in position for a photo. These will go in after the paint. Stay tuned! ![]() Plastic door handles. These are replicas of the kind you see on the fabulous 911R, my favorite Porsche of all-time. ![]() Front signal lens and horn grills from Pelican Parts (I still need housings) I was originally going to go with the fiberglass inserts that mimic the 911R look. I changed my mind with that. Even though that route is another way to shave off some weight, I just really didn't like the way they looked. ![]() Light weight battery. Okay, this doesn't add anything to the look. But it does shave off around 15 pounds. ![]() Silver window frames for the doors — with plastic vent and rotating vent bubble. The windows are new but the frames are NOT mint condition and I don't care. My favorite 911s all have a rough, well used edge to them, and mine will too. ![]() ![]() And finally, wheels. Not exactly a "little touch". As anyone who has had this done knows, it's not cheap, but from my perspective, an essential ingredient: 7 and 8 inch Fuchs, freshly restored with RSR finish by the best in the USA, Harvey Weidman. He did a great job. One thing I actually like about them is that they aren't perfect if you can believe it. They look new but still have an edge to them. To say I can't wait to see how they look on the car would be a huge understatement. I am still deciding on what tires to buy. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for looking you guys! Hope to have more progress this week. Cheers, Mark
