Seafoam is awesome
My last tank full of gas was short of other gas mileage readings and the car has started running rough at idle. My car is due for a oil change so I put a can of Seafoam into the gas tank and filled up to a half tank of gas.
In less than one minute of running I could feel a difference. The drive last night, the start up this morning and drive into work was joyful. Seafoam is a tune up in a can if ever there was such a thing. ![]()

One of my favorites - works at cleaning the gunk in the carbs on the boat too.

Good to know it works well.
I still have a can sitting on my shelf at home. It's strange stuff, since you can put it in the oil tank , or gas tank, or in diesel. Maybe I'll give it a try before I change the oil next month.

I have been a big advocate of Chevron Techron ever since Porsche put out a bulletin on its use way back when. I have even bragged about getting 345,000 miles out of my 1985.5 944 engine without any work, besides a blown head gasket.
But, now you got my ear on "Seafoam", which by name reminds me more of stuff I would use on my sailboat then car, but then it does say, "Marine" use. So let me put aside my addiction to Techron and Marvel Mystery Oil here and take a look at Seafoam. Can you tell me first where to purchase this stuff? Is it a mailorder item, sold at high-end stores? NAPA? Autozone? Just where do you get it and how much does it cost? Can you add anything else on this product? Thanks Bob 73.5T ![]() |

Autozone, Autoworks, Murrary's and other chain stores should carry it. They should have a list on their website.
Soak the tips of your old spark plugs in Seafoam and you might not even have to wire brush them to have them as good as new. Many older engines run rich and foul up the plugs quickly, so this is a money saver even if using solid copper $2.00 NKG's.

Couple questions, anyone know:
Does it hurt your catalyst converter? And does it enhance leak, since it clean up so well? How does seafoam compare to water method?

I have used it on my 3 cyliner 1100cc Jet Skis and its true, its a tuneup in a can. I don't entirely know what it does but they were runnign great before and now? Awesome. I've run several tanks of gas through them since doing it and they continue to run great.

Good as a lawnmower fuel stabilizer as well. I mix some with the fuel and don;t worry about having to drain the tanks before winter.
I run Seafoam in my personal vehicles as well as our company route trucks.

Just FYI, I saw the Seafoam at a WalMart Super Center over the weekend. I believe the price was about $5. I purchased the Techron product as I have always heard that it was a great product.
Couple of questions: Do I need to change the oil after using this product (techron)? Can I put in into a tank that is approx half full, or do I need to put in when empty, then fill up to approx half full? Seems like the same thing, but just wondering if it would 'mix up' as well.. Thanks! Craig

Craig.
Here's the deal on Techron. Porsche put out a bulletin through the PCA years ago about the cleaning benefit of Techron; however, advised that the engine oil should be changed within 500 miles of use. Techron does not fully combust, rather it will clean the injectors then weep its way past the rings cleaning the cylinder walls and head down into the oil pan. You can smell the stuff on the dipstick! With 10+ quarts of oil on the oil cooled engines the oil change within 500 miles safeguards against any impact on seals. What I have done is to get the gas down to 1/4 full tank and add a longneck bottle and fill to 1/2. No need to drive like a maniac as the stuff will do its cleaning regardless of speed. I have gone back to back on adding Techron one or twice a year and recommend Techron if your injectors may be acting up. I have used Techron in every P-car I have ever owned and no complaints. I do however, want to try Seaform. ....I am not a Techron salesman or work for Chevron; however, I play one on Pelican! Bob ![]() 73.5T |

Try Seafoam's "Bugs-B-Gone" - equally amazing at getting the bugs off your car.

Bob (sunroof),
Thanks for your input! I guess I have to burn up some gas before I use it. ![]() This is about the time of year I change my oil anyway for winter driving. Craig

Just did a can 3 ways like the video. Smoked some but not like others I have seen. Results: Smoother idle, better response, seems more peppy too. Now I have to try it on the other toys.
