Ah.....mind if I ask how much you paid and who was the vendor?

The pics above are my personal daily driver. It's a fake longhood on an 83 tub with a 3.6....the graphics are metallic charcoal grey that I made for a client. I liked it so much I installed it on my ride as well.

I have another RS set in that color if anyone is interested....

Well, I emailed you months ago to get me samples of grey vinyl, but you said your printer guy was in jail or something.

Mike, do you have a direct side shot of your car?

Or can you simply measure how far up it is from the bottom of the door?

Ok...I've got the passenger side done. I'd like some opinions though. I think it's an optical illusion, but it looks like it's tilting down a bit. The decal is exactly level with the door...47mm from the bottom in the front and the rear.

What do you guys think of the placement?

I like the Healey in the garage. 100-6 or 3000??

Oh, and I like the subtle contrasting color script too. Almost did the inverse on my car. Light silver on GP White, but have changed direction.

I think it looks a little too high because the 50mm distance appears to be for cars that have the lower trim strip. With the lower trim strip gone, IMO I'd place the stripe a little lower. Like on Mike's car (which also has the lower strip removed).

I think you're right...I need to redo them, and I'll put them a little lower. Glad I had an extra.

Here's mine if it helps (the angle might not be the best). I agree, the pics have the stripe a bit high. I love the car and the contrast, though.

Hi folks.

It's been a while since I had a chance to update. I've been insanely busy lately, and haven't had a chance to get to the baby for a while.

A few weeks ago, I installed a "Carrera" decal on my passenger side. I waited a while to see what it was going to look like, and how my alignment of the decal was. It didn't look good, so I decided to do it over again today.

It was VERY difficult to get it to look correct with these wide flares. There were hours of measuring, aligning, comparing, etc...

Anyway, I made a plumb line from bumper to bumper out of some fly fishing line, and got a good preliminary alignment:

Fast forward an hour later:

And the result. sorry for the grainy shots...my cam ran out of juice, so I had to use my iPhone.

The passenger side took me a couple more hours to get right, even with the numbers I had from the driver's side. There's definitely truth in the statement that these cars aren't necessarily symmetrical.

The reason my front grills aren't installed is that I've decided to have them sandblasted and rechromed to fix some of the pitting in them.

That's all for now...I'm hoping to take it for a little rip tomorrow. Hope this early car graphics install helps someone.

According to this image, the Carrera graphics start about 50mm up from the bottom of the rocker cover.
I hate to say it but, I think it's too low and I think the 24" wheels may make an optical illusion of them being high. (joking... but serious about them making it look high)

The page from the manual you scanned is very clear. It's what I used to do mine as well. Read #1. It doesn't say 50mm from the rocker cover, it says measure from the "door lower edge".

Love the color scheme!

Here's mine measureing 50mm from the bottom of the door.

I used 2" blue painters tape as my "level" starting at the bottom of the door. Makes the PITA process a lot easier.

I started there, but the consensus was that it was too high for a longhood. So I lowered it.
