Need help with front targa seal replacement
All:
Just got my new targa seal from Dan Petchel. I went to remove the old one, and it turns out there are two separate rubber pieces along the top of the windshield- the thick seal part (like I just got from Dan) and this thinner strip which runs along the leading edge, as shown below; ![]() Do I just install the piece Dan sent me (as seen laying on the windshield) or should I try to replace the thinner strip also? Thanks in advance, Paul.

That is a fix to eliminate wind noise

I would e-mail Dan and ask but it looks like the seal in the lower part of the page gsmith posted.

Thanks guys. I now know the extra trim piece was added by the factory. I just talked with Dan Petchel- it sounds as though there may be a trim part missing from my car?
![]() More pics in this thread; Do I need to replace my targa seal? Thanks, Paul.

Update:
I got both old seals off. I test-fitted the new seal, and it barely stays in the channel across the top of the windshield, and feels like it might fly out at speed. I have read that glue should be used on the door seals, should I glue the whole thing? Also, I test-fitted the targa top, and now have a big gap across the front. I suspect this will cause a lot of wind noise. Can I adjust the top forward or should I put the second seal back in there? Pics; ![]() ![]() Thanks in advance, Paul.

Paul,
It looks like you need to adjust your top forward. How does the rear fit?

Harry:
It looks to me like it sits too low and too far back in the rear. You can (kinda) see it in my second pic in the last post. Thanks, Paul.
