Not to hijack this but a couple of years ago I saw a classifed ad for a 912 that seemed, at least to me, to be shockingly low. It was something like $6k but not much info on condition, does this make sense and can they be converted to 6 cylinders very easily or is there something about the engine bay that is different? Not to ignore the historical significance of the 912...I was asking more from a hypothetical standpoint.
