![]() PAGE ONE Some time back, a topic came up about who had brake and tail lights behind the center lens. It appeared that there was not many that had this feature. At the time, I tried posting some photos of the way mine looks, but the pictures did not come out very nice. I decided to test out my new camera with some additional photos. The rear "reflector" still does reflect, but it is also a lens. The center portion of it where the Porsche name is located, is not coated on the inside with the gray or whatever the type of coating is, it is just the transparent red, just like any other tail light lens, except for the black P-O-R-S-C-H-E script. Hopefully these photos look alright. I didn't realize how few 911's had functional lenses and brake/tail lights where the center reflector is normally located. The first photo is with the lights off. ![]() Brakes applied, no lights on. ![]() Lights on. ![]() Lights out. ![]() Lights and brakes. ![]() Lights and brakes applied. ![]() ![]() Lights and brakes applied. ![]() No lights, with reflector. ![]() No lights plus reflector ![]() Stay Tuned for Part 2

![]() Page 2 Lights and brakes nighttime. ![]() Lights without brakes, nighttime. ![]() Hopefully these are coming out OK. I think that the center panel being able to be used as tail lights and brake lights, should give a lot better view of the rear on the 911, and possibly prevent a rear end collision. Even if it doesn't. I still think it adds to the car. Tony. ![]()

No love for me. I have memories of seeing 911's around L.A. that had this setup. I guess I can finally lay this to rest.

To all that have inquired by email, I am currently working on a write-up for the conversion. It will also include diagrams, and should be fairly easy to follow the wiring schematic. A parts list will also be included, along with more illustrative photos. It may take me a little time to get it in a "final draft" stage, but I am keeping everyone that has emailed, or others that will do so in the future, in a file, to make sure they get the info needed. Thanks to all, Tony.

Rear Relector
I saw your posting.
Do you have an email with photos on how you did the conversion. I have a 1983 911SC Cabriolet and I am in the process of replacing the rear reflector. |

Very cool. Awaiting write up. Assume a relay will have to be in line from brake lamp wiring.

Looks aside, this would improve rearward visibility/night survive-ability.

Banned but not out, yet..

Studies have shown that the most effective third brake lights are at eye level or directed at eye level, say from the top of the rear window. For cabs who hate ET this could be a solution.
