Next question - how are you guys mounting, holding or positioning the iPhone during the test? Will a jury-rigged arrangement such as rubber-banding the iPhone to the sunvisor work?

I'm using something called a "ProClip" (http://www.proclipusa.com). I'm mainly using it because it also allows connecting the iPhone to the car audio, and can be adjusted for good visibility when I'm using Google Maps. Really, though, for dyno use, anything that holds the iPhone steady in the proper position (center of car, screen perpendicular to direction of travel) should be fine.

You are correct sir, and this makes the most sense. Why else would it be reading 70MPH from just tilting it in my hand?

I had mine lying on the passenger seat, secured enough so it would not slide around.

I did 6 runs and that was plenty. I really don't need to tear my tranny apart right now.

If the app is updated with major improvements or I change my car, I'd make a couple more runs..

From their website Q&A:

Q: What is the best way to mount the iPhone when testing?
A: Mounting is a concern for accurate results. Unfortunately, mounting is very vehicle-dependent. On some cars, a cupholder is fine, as long as the iPhone is wedged pretty well and does not move around. For in-house testing, we have a cradle which mounts to the windshield with suction cups. This took a bit of custom work to set up, but does the job nicely. Any off-the-shelf cradle which fits the iPhone should work, as long as it holds the iPhone facing the front of the car, and does not bounce around.

Q: Will you make Dynolicious for [insert your platform here]
A: At this time, we are porting Dynolicious to the Blackberry Storm. We currently do not have plans to support any other platform. The best way to convince us to port Dynolicious to something else is to visit our forum and show your support.

Not a good run

You can see a lot of hesitation during the run, and the fact that I take my time to shift the 915.

I also had 525lbs of human in the car. (My passenger with the iphone weighs at least 300).

We also guessed on the weight of the car, with us.

If your passenger was holding the i-phone, that would explain the non-smooth curve.

I am about to get one of these; I am just wondering if the arm is long enough with the dashboard over the lighter plug...

I didn't have the best luck with FM transmitters when I was using my iPod in the 911. I ended up using a wired connection.

That said, the device you linked to is inexpensive enough that there's no reason not to try it.

I just installed PocketDyno on my iPhone before realizing that Dynolicious was a different app. Has anybody compared them? I installed the $12.99 version of Pocketdyno. I like the graphics on Dynolicious.

Now all I have to do is find a stretch of road to try it out on.
