Porsche Crest Attn: Peeps without Rocker Panels...

Hi all,
I'm doing some body work and welding and so on. I'm not going to install rocker panels back on my car. Since my car didn't come with them in the first place, this works out great.
So here's the deal... if rockers are installed, there would be some added rigidity to the 1/4 panel (I'm talking about the section near the torsen bar cover) Being that I'm not using them, should I add some sort of brace or support to keep things tight?
What have you guys done?
Thanks,
Derek

Leave them off, fuggedaboudit. Your quarters will be fine. I ran hard without my rockers for years with absolutely no problem. Never crossed my mind, never been discussed here.

Looks good too !

My '87's do flap around a bit, but no big deal. It is top speed secret as they fold in slightly at high speeds giving me an aerodynamic advantage!

8 inch 951 offset Fuchs with 205s on the front. 9 inch 930 offset Fuchs with 245s on the back.

That's the bomb setup for sure.

I took my rockers off and I think it looks much better. I like the "old skol" look. I even polished up my oil lines to make them stand out more.

It's a crappy picture but here ya go -

Only welding was to fill the holes from the rocker. Looks way better IMHO.

If you think steel deforms without rocker trim, try fiberglass. I am fine like this, you should have no problem with welded on steel fenders.

Now that I'm done welding everything back together, it is very solid now. There is one spot right near (to the rear of) the jack point that needs to be welded. After that was done it feels very solid. I havn't decided on whether to show off the brass lines or keep them black... or to put the torsen covers on or leave em off???
Great pics guys, thanks alot.

I painted mine black. The lighter color of the lines draws your eye "down" on the car an to me it is distracting. I have seen many with the gold ERP finned lines and to me they stick out like a sore thumb...kinda like neon under rocker lights.

Very nice! It looks like the color on that new RS911 tribute car they just came out with. The one with the mini duck tail? It's more of a gray I think. Hard to tell on a computer. I'm looking forward to the end of the 5 or so years it's gonna take for me to complete this project. The journey makes the wait so much sweeter, don't you think? Who knows, maybe I'll win the Lotto and cut it to 1 or 2 years.

No rockers

however rocker panels are needed if you're going over 160 mph to eliminate cross winds and unstability.
