How to tell if a car has 8's or 9's Fuchs in the rear
Hi,
I am looking at a few cars lately. One of them has 7 & 9's and the other has 7 & 8's (I believe). To me, 8's and 9's both look wide/fat in the rear - how do I distinguish between them? Thanks Marvin

I believe they are visually the same from the outside, you really need to see the back of the rim and see (markings) what they are to be certain.

If that's not possible next best is to look at the lugs, 9s are counter sunk(so are 944 8s though) 911 8s ar not.

What Bill said. Recessed lugs for more brake clearance if you can not look at the backs.
If there are 225's do not really fit 9's in most cases so it it has 225's they are likely 8's. 245's are the most street tire that can be mounted on 8's so having 245's is not an indication it has 9's. |

The sunken wheel nuts are a fair old giveaway in identifying a 9x16" Fuchs rim. This is a 9":

I've got counter sunk lugs front and rear, and if my memory serves me they are 8's and 9's.

While they look the same from 5yards, 9's have counter sunk bolt holes and 8's do not.

Cup its muffler, turn the front wheels to the left and have it backfire through the intake.

As Bill said at the top, 8x16 951 Fuchs have sunken wheel nuts. 8x16 911 Fuchs don't.
