I know you're talking to "outlaw" , but hey! What's wrong with that? :)

Mike Andrew 02-11-2009 05:08 AM

Souk, it looks like you may be having the cars & coffe group at your place for a Sunday morning pitch in to get this thing done. My understanding is that we work for beer.
Seems like quite the project and should be fun as long as there is no set deadline.

MotoSook 02-11-2009 05:55 AM

I'll be happy to stock the garage fridge with beers for help stripping the sound damping off the floor pan :)

Seriously, I'll host a Cars and Coffee in my Garagimus Maximus once or twice this year and we can just hang out or do a little wrenching. Maybe I'll do a Cars and Coffee + Formula 1 in the garage.

Mike Andrew 02-11-2009 06:06 AM

Cars, coffee AND F1??? Sounds like a winner to me.

Outlaw 911; If I am guessing right your the guy with a great garage and several car projects, non of which that run!

Hey there now - jwerion. I would like you to consider a few points.

1 I can make great car noises when I go for a drive. - wha, wha, wha (starter) Vroom, vroom, brap, brap, pop, vroom, vroom, brah, brah, brah (hit the rev limiter)- brap, pop, pop, brrum, brum, vroom.

2 My cars get great gas mileage.

3 My cars are very eco friendly - unless I have had a beans for dinner.

4 They always start - see #1, unless I have a cold.

5 I can add a turbo in 15 seconds - see #1, and put in a "whosh" in there someplace.

I would happy to give your ride sometime - just drop by. You know where I am at.

Here's my current project, should be getting speed yellow paint in the next few days. Fenders were windened to fit the 17x11 Kinesis rims, 993 wiper conversion being done.

Wow! Nice work on the wiper conversion.

Kinesis Supercup wheels

Dave - glad to see so much progress. I like those 993 windshield wipers.
Do you know the size front wheels? 9"?

Jim

cudabnu 02-17-2009 11:01 AM

Hey Jim, yes I believe the fronts are 9's, the've basically been in storage since I got the car from you! I'm also using a orig 993 hood with the squirters, but decided since the doors were fine on the 80 to not use the 993 doors I have. I'd really like to get a GT2 rear tail for it, but that will come later, so for now it will just have the aero wing. I also have a new 993 center tunnel that will be welded in to use the 993 console. I either need to fabricate the very front of the tunnel, or find one to cut out, as the replacement floor for the 993 only comes up to about the front of the dash.

MotoSook 02-18-2009 03:23 AM

You guys who mounted headlights with fiberglass fenders, how did you do that? Did you have to use the 993 hanger or rail?

evil122 02-18-2009 08:28 AM

My kit came with two pieces fiberglassed on both sides of the headlight with a hole in each one to shoot a bolt through to screw into light housing =/. Been holding so far for 4 years.

Kit is from better bodies btw

cudabnu 02-18-2009 08:40 AM

Great. Thanks guys.

What about the rear reflector? How were your's done?

evil122 02-18-2009 06:42 PM

There was a fiberglass piece that gets riveted on if I remember correctly. It's the shape of the reflector so it just screws in

cudabnu 03-15-2009 01:16 PM

Just got a few pics from the painter...

My carbon foot print just got a lot bigger :D

Got the body panels in last week and finally unpacked everything over the weekend.

Now the fun can start...beginning with the front bumper. Did you guys trim the flange that covers the latch panel? Mine are about 1/2 inch wider on each side. I wonder if it was meant to be trimmed to fit in between the tub flanges or if it was meant to sit on top of the flange where the fenders bolt (since the hood and fender line is higher than stock).

sc_rufctr 03-23-2009 05:37 AM

I hope you're not planning to cover that carbon with paint...

Just buff it and leave it as is...
