That's a GT Racing 996 GT3 tail for a 911. John Simone reshaped it to match the profile of his 993 rear fenders.
We made custom uprights and the wing is also made by John, it's carbonfiber with a wicker and adjustable angles. Doug |

Does anyone have pictures of how the headlights are mounted? My kit has flanges on either side of the headlight but am unsure how to secure it.
Thanks |
Can anyone tell me whats up with my fender to door fitment? I started out with fiber glass 993 conversion fenders that should bolt on to 911 body. I thought the fitment was bad so I bought a set of used OEM 993 turbo fenders so I would have a perfect fit. Only need to raise the body to fit the mounting holes. Turned out they was just the same as the FG fenders. I can't think of any way to adjust doors since they fit on top and bottom, but the fenders has a bigger curve than the doors....
same both sides. the body was a original carrera with oem parts and perfect fit everywhere. Se pictures right side FG fender and steel fender: FB fenders: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5...2/CIMG6864.jpg OEM fenders: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5...2/IMG_0448.jpg |
I shimmed my fenders to fit the contour of my door and then fiberglassed a flange to the stock fender mounting surface. It made the fender more rigid, improves the mounting, and holds the shape correctly. I do not understand why these fenders do not come with the flange already installed or maybe my kit was incomplete. I bought it used.
I could still use some help on how to mount the headlights. Anyone? |
swoodard23: Do you have the mounting brackets for the headlights? See pictures in the middle of this page and you will see the brackets and how the headlights slide in: Jackals racetrack
was this what you where looking for? My fenders have flange and should bolt on. They do bolt on but not with a good fit...... http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5...2/IMG_0451.jpg I was thinking I could cut of the flange and make a new curve that follows the door, but when the OEM fender is the same I wounder if there is something wrong....? Please let me know if anyone have had similar issues or if it was a clean fit. |
Please pardon this question if its been asked. I've been lurking this thread (see screen name:). I'm wondering where you guys purchase most of your parts. Most important rear finders and bumper. I will replace those first. My dumbassidness backed into my truck (very tight driveway) I didn't hit the truck hard but it did slightly push in the pass side rear finder and fold under the wheel arch some. So, I figure why pay a pretty good chunk of change to fix that when I can upgrade. LIKE MY THINKING?
Also, I've used some of the new very high performance adhesives like the Austin Martin are put together with. Why not use that type of product to install finders? I'm piss poor at best with welding and don't just want to use kitty hair and bondo to install them. That would be a serious injustice. Has anyone done wide rear's with a narrow front in order to swap the rear rims to the front? LASTLY, this may be a MAJOR faux pas but has anyone used the old RS style rear lights with center reflector delete with a 993 body change. I really like the simplistic look of those tail lights. If anyone has PhotoChop could you give it a try and give me an idea of the look? What do ya'll think of that type of setup? HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE. 24HRS of Le Mans has me glued to the tele OH I HAD A THOUGHT about the 'spider cracks that seem to happen to those of you who use fiberglass finders. I know this works because I've used it and its cheap. Get a couple tiles of CLD tiles to take up the shock. You can stack them as thick as needed. Hope those of you who have a hard go at it with this issue give it a try. Its cheap and works. |

After three plus years the 993 project is finally getting some work. In that time, I've gotten married, had a couple of kids, got a new job, bought a new house and I think I got some new socks too! :D
It's been a busy 3 years and I could have done some work on the car, but that would have caused unnecessary stress to our family life. So the car sat, and I pretty much loss interest in most things Porsche. With the new house I have a bit more room to work in, and the kids are now a little less dependent. So with the "Fat Bastard" Carrera sold and some sympathy from my wonderful wife, I now have motivation and a little more spare time to work on the car. Some of the old timers may remember "Bastard" my 1976 911S, the car that started the whole thing...in the original skin at my first DE many many moons ago. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605331.jpg And then there was that whole backdate thing :D ... this was the last time the car saw track duty. I finished the backdate and took it to Gingerman for a shakedown. After that weekend the car got striped in anticipation of a repaint. Well, it never got put back together.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605456.jpg So now....the last shot of poor "Bastard" before the plastic surgery... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605528.jpg Over the weekend (betweeen distractions and working until 5AM one night), the major pieces got hung. I have a lot of work ahead of me yet, but the major hurdle of cutting off the quarter panels is behind me. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605626.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605655.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605671.jpg The widebody kit is WIDE! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605689.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311605708.jpg |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311607635.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311607654.jpg I bought the car complete but have a photo album of the build. Looks like it was a major pita to get the panels hung and they're still not perfect. Good luck w/ your projecthttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311607797.jpg |
The fit actually looks pretty good in those pictures. Can you shoot some pictures of the rear reflector plate under the decklid? I'm struggling with how to do it without cutting off the cross member at the back end.

KOJO,
Was that a recent Ebay purchase? If so, I saw that car and thought what a GREAT deal it was. If not SmileWavy sorry, nice car. |
Dang Souk. That thing is so wide I thought you had no wheels/tires on the back. I see there's some 16x7s hiding back there under the C/F tents!
|
The thing is almost comical it's so wide! I'm gonna need some steam rollers.
|
Nah just get the wheels located well relative to fenders and suspension/setup. Last thing you want is massive heavy rubber that you can't get up to a good temperature. Big 'ol 315s on the rear are for turbos or posers.... :D As light as you're going to be, you need 275 tops I bet.
|
Bastard is looking great. What color's it gunna be, Souk?
|
You know I've been all about poser'ing since the last time I was at the track , Kevin. I even haul the trailer around the block every now and then (leaving at 5 AM) pretending I'm going to the track. :D
Jim...it's going to be purple of course! |

It was!
Someone painted over the factory silver in the 80's....GP White! But you know I can't decide nor see color...so I'm just gonna clear the body and tell everyone it's carbon black :) Quote:

souk, I'll try to get some photo's of the rear reflector, may take a couple of days.
Bought the car in '03 or 04, it was a car featured in Excellence in 02 I think. Yup, They're wide, I think plus 2-3" over a 993 gt2, so pretty massive. I run 275s in the front and 335s in the rear. I get heat in the rears no problem, the fronts take some playing with. |
