BB 935 05-03-2012 03:32 AM

Hi ,

I am building a as close as possible 1977 customer version 935 with ´79 upgrades like Moby Dick Brakes and Upside Down Gearbox out of my regular street ´77 930. At least 90% of the repro parts of own production ! When I find time I`ll post pictures of parts and time after time of build up of chassis.

Put in an Odessey Battery and powered up the ISIS system. No big issues in getting it going. Changing location of a output and or switch function is so easy. My ISIS configuration sheet had the fuel pump setup to work off rear powercell. No big deal. You give the guys at ISIS the output on the front powercell and the HMI switch on the switch panel you want to operate the fuel pump and they create the hex file email it to you. Download from your PC to programmer and mastercell and its done, fast and easy. And Jay Harris and his staff at ISIS have been very accessable and helpful with my install. Electrical is the job I seem to want to do the least on my car and I would have to say this system makes for an easier, faster means to change out an old system that is lighter and totally adaptable to you needs.

Removed the stock 930 BOV setup and put a 964 turbo rubber boot and stock BOV. Much lighter and will free up some more space.

A little more wiring and its back to Greg at Eurosport to finish the piping for turbo and intercooler and finally fire this thing up. I think Greg will approve of the decal.

Thank You

Thanks guys for the compliments as well as encouragement for the last five years. The people that support and share their knowledge on Pelican help to push the desire to stay with these projects with so many different possibilities. I am blown away by what others on this site have done with their cars. And all you guys that have taken on a project know how tough it is to stay the course and get one completed. Greg Johnson keeps reminding me a race car is never finished................. No but this thread will be soon, hopefully it will help someone else as so many of the other projects on this forum have helped me.

A Big Thanks Pelican

ISIS switch panel

James, the switch panel is from ISIS but did not come with the 3 cell kit. Its a new product and not on the site yet but available.

James,

The switches are new to the aftermarket side of our business. We have been selling them to our commercial customers for a while now.

They are really elegant. They have a solid tactile response and the feel good under a gloved hand. The back-lights are built in and are very visible in all lighting conditions. Best of all, the entire bank of switches connects back to the MASTERCELL through just two 20-AWG wires plus power and ground. It makes wiring the dash very easy.

Give us a call and we can get you more information.

Tad, you never cease to amaze me with this build. It is one of my top three that I follow religiously... And one being my own. but seriously, it's up their man. I would say it is on par with the 9M build over on Rennlist. Great stuff man.

When you coming to visit FL? Want to come down for the next 12h of Sebring!?

clam shell assembly

Got the inlet and outlet welded to the intercooler clam shell. Put the studs on and did final assembly and fitting into engine compartment. Had to move intercooler to the left about an inch to get clearance for outlet to turbo. Still need to cut out area where hood latch mounts to allow more clearance near belt pulley. Then section with bov need to be welded up.

Time to start

Spent all week getting things buttoned up so I can crank the engine over next week. Had to make some new brackets to reposition some stuff. Hooked up all the turbo lines, boost , vacuum , etc..... lotsa hose clamps........ After engine checks out need to put the cv joints back on and adjust the new clutch cable and the hargett shifter shaft needs to be shortened and adjusted. I know the blue hose is ugly ... out of black hose .... but I'm to the point that I just want to the get it hooked up and running. Hopefully startup goes well.

Its Alive !!!!!

Okay, so yesterday got the engine to fire up and ran for about 3 or 4 minutes. It was a great feeling. Sort of anticlimatic since the alternator was not charging and the bearing for the fan had play and was rubbing against fan housing so started to replace alternator. When thats finshed will restart and do some tuning, was running lean. But before all that had to replace starter because it was drawing too many amps. Next the stock ignition crapped out when I first was trying to start a week ago. Replaced with a MSD 6-AL and MSD coil. Also a clewitt plug wire set from our host. Green sheathed wire from dizzy needed some work. So now about the only old part left in the car will be me LOL.... Hope to video engine running soon..........
