And today I disassembled both sets of door handles, cleaned, re-greased, polished, and reassembled them. I re-keyed the cyclinders in the chrome handles for my key, which was fairly straightforward but tedious and time-consuming.

I never noticed it before, but my black door handles are different. The one on the left is painted or powdercoated, but the one on the right is some sort of black-flavored zinc alloy, which looks really close to the black anodized window trim. Apparently there's more to this car's past than I realized! They even have slightly different part numbers.

The chrome handles are from a '71. Since my '86 came with central locking, the door latch assemblies are different than a car with manual locks, so I'm going to have to swap those out too.

Looking good, looks like it is getting close. I know it seems like it got to that stage quick. On the trim, I had some parts re plated (pop outs, door handles etc) , but the Dealership had the trim for the windows in chrome (at first they said the rear were NLA) so I wound up buying the trim from them, I think it was 200.00 for both windsheilds with a PCA discount.

Nice swap on the door handles.

All that's left now is to install the glass with new seals and polished trim, and the driver's side mirror, and it'll be coming home for reassembly. Then it's a race to get it all back together in time for Parade!

Cool blue. Looks like it will soon be a working car to have fun driving.

Are you considering silver PORSCHE script for the rear lid or side sills? Silver and blue work stunningly together, IMHO.

Yeah, it looks very blue in the pics, but in the natural light the grey shows more and it's very period-looking. This color changes greatly depending on the light conditions.

Sorry mikez, I already had the graphics (black).

That is an option I've considered too. I like the RS graphics though. Silver or grey graphics would look great too, but I'm afraid it might make it look too "Detroit Lions" or "Dallas Cowboys"

Dave, that looks fantastic! Nice to see another individual blue colour out there...

MikeZ, what does 'stealth grey' look like - I might be interested

LOL! Yeah, maybe black would be best then. Are you keeping your wheels black to match?

Can't wait to see the finished car.

Actually the wheels will be RSR finish. I think that will look great against the blue.
