String alignment.

Anyone out there care to take a minute and explain a good accurate way to set up strings to help me set toe. How do you lay out the strings, and be sure you are square with the car, before you make measurements.
I did this way back, but have had easy access to an alignment rack for many years. This option is now gone ( another victim of the economy) , and I need to set up this season's budget auto x 924.

Thanks
