G50 diff case ?

Hello forum!

Simple question (I hope) !

I buy a 1989 g50 off a carrera.
The rear section (where it bolts to the engine) is damaged (cracked)
The seller give me an extra rear section from a 1990 c2 along with the diff cover.
Will these fit together ?
Is it a DIY job or a pros only job ?If so any recommended shop in NYC area ?

Thanks

I wish I could help you. IIRC there have been discussions on previous posts about mating later model G50s to earlier cars. Check out the search button.

You need to check the ring and pinion settings, unless you have the tools it's a shop only swap.

The parts will fit. But like lite75 said, you've got to check the pinion depth, differential carrier bearing preload, and ring & pinion backlash when you reassemble. Specialty tools and/or experience are key to proper assembly and operation.
