Clean up the car, get rid of the wheels and make sure that the engine is working fine...enjoy it for what it is and don't get into any races. Sinking your money into it is a mistake...just my opinion.

Playa. Very unfortunate you bought something that was misleading.

I do believe you can still have fun with it though.

My suggestion:
Get those wheels off the car.
Find a set of Fuchs.
Find a proper spoiler or remove the current one.
If you are somewhat mechanical, learn the engine, tune it and have fun with it as it is. I wouldn't put any more money into the car then absolutely necessary. I think the more you drive the car, the more you will realize these cars weren't built so much for other peoples reactions but for you, the driver. Even with a 912 motor you'll experience something that other cars won't offer. My suggestion is to let the Eclipse's and Corvette's go on by. Learn your car and make it the best you can with what you have to work with. Finding this forum and the 912bbs.org definitely gives you the ability to troubleshoot and upgrade just about any aspect of your car.

It would be a good idea to inspect certain area's of the car for your own safety. The pictures previously posted of suspension points should be looked at in addition to many other areas. These things can be inquired about if you're interested in safety.

Went to a small local dealer just outside Milwaukee, Wi that tried pulling the same crap. In my inexperience, I was pumped to maybe own my dream car for only 7000 big ones. It was only because of a carfax that I pulled that told me it was a 912, not a carrera 3.0. (fairly rare) a ten digit vin and a couple of difficult searches set me straight. I was shocked that even a dealer could try to pull this scam. In all fairness, it did have a flat 6, but the car was shot either way with rust and suspension problems. It was a very convincing clone. If you are from the area I am sure you know who I am talking about PPI man, PPI.

die nummer drei 912E

Playa
It looks like you have #3 912E
change the wheels to stock, remove the tail and list it on ebay as the third 912E built.(Give an honest description) Someone will want it.Sell the tail and ghetto wheels and buy a good running, the best you can afford 911SC 1978-1983 and you will be happy.

check the 914 forum for engine work......same engine that was in those cars when they were new. Sorry to hear you got ripped off. Happens to the best of us and we all have been guilty of getting excited about a car and making rash decisions. Good luck with your new project

playa - i'm a college kid too - but i did about a years worth of research before i went out and bought mine - i love the car, fun, pretty fast, impresses the ladies and what not, but without doing a $#!% load of research there is no way i would have went in for ANY car - especially a porsche.

i originally considered a Nissan 350z - then i saw that i could own a classic porsche for around the same price - and the insurance would actually be lower.

some tips for the next time you go to buy a car - - inspect EVERYTHING play with all the knobs, buttons and all the little do-dads it might have in it. if there is something the guy tells you not to push i would start to think twice about your purchase - or atleast ask about it and try to get -dare i say it- an "honest" answer out of a used car salesman. count plugs/wires and make sure your engine has enough cylinders to get it moving. and always remember that a Porsche is not built for straight line speed.

[QUOTE=gsmith660;4627215]A big red guy huh, hey dfink heres another Nebraskan, I am up that way often working at Copper and Ft. Calhoun occasionally. Post a pic of your car and we can make something of this thread we can turn this into an inspirational thread for playa. heres mine comments welcome (except you cashflyer)[/Qoute]

sounds good! my pics are kinda crappy but hey- they'll do... the lighting makes the car look a bit more orange than it is red... but its red i swear it.

and this last one is a bit blurry - - but it brings out the red better.

If you are thinking of your car with long term potential, you've got to jump on these:

Fuch 16X9 and 16X8 For Sale

they are a first BIG step back from the long journey of poserdom.

I doubt if we will see much of Playa on this thread anymore. Damm uppity 19 year old thought he had a nice car. Next time try not to sugar coat things so much.
Many of us seem so proud of the Pelican 911 forum gang initiation beat down he got. I think it was worse then the one Pesto360 got, although in that case in the end it turned out that he probably deserved it.
