I would say on the gear box orient the washers like this ( - ) to keep the shifting precise

On the motor mounts ) - ( to lessen the engine vibration.

Gear Box is more important for precision shifting.

If you don't like it, re-arrange. This will not harm anything, matter of preferrence but PAG designed it with this configuration ) - ( in mind.

I will be putting drive train back in my car in a few weeks if all goes well. This is a great thread and I appreciate DRACO’s final word on this. I had my transmission mount washers oriented () and engine mount washers (). On my reinstall I’m going back to factory )( washer orientation. Also thinking of welding small 12mm nuts to bottom of engine cross bar to ease installation.

I remember that service bulletin. My '77 had them the old way )( --. The first time I had the engine and transmission out I reversed them. I wanted the mounts stiffer, though of course I couldn't tell the difference after I changed. Same with the stiffer Porsche mounts.

Thanks for this info and the TSB is super clear. I recorded a video of replacing the mounts as per TSB:
