Leaky Compressor - What Else While in There?
I need to replace my 89 3.2's AC Compressor. The shaft is leaking. When I do that, I ought to replace the Receiver/Drier, I believe, since it is a relatively cheap item. Anything else "cheap" I should replace? I don't want to dump money into the AC as [to me] 'it is what it is'.

I don't have any personal experience with the Pro-cooler receiver dryer but I see a lot of folks on Pelican endorse them. Since you have to replace the receiver/dryer anyway you might look at that as one easy upgrade. Stay with R-12 if possible. It is a more efficient refrigerant.

The Procooler is a nice upgrade and it does replace the reciever the dryer, but it's more than just a plug and play replacement. It requires replacing and rerouting hoses.
As long as your system is open you could replace the front condensor and/or the evaporator with a serpentine one. Either is a fairly easy replacement. Not exactly 'cheap' but should improve performance somewhat.
