Sway a way and Neatrix stupid questions...
Let me first say that I have done several searches and am still a bit confused. Im restoring a 1970 911 that is NOT going to be a track car. I am putting 21 and 26mm T bars on it and also Koni sports. My question is about the rear spring plates. I bought a set of Sway A Way plates but have a few questions. Im concerned that the stock hard urethane bushings will be squeaky and I dont want that. Plus, I have already spent an hour and am no where close to getting them in! The diameter is about .02" bigger than the hole in the torsion tube. Can I use neatrix on the sway a way plates? I was thinking that the install would be easier and the ride quieter. Thoughts? Polyurethane/Polygraphite bushings need to be turned on a lathe to the correct outside (and inside) diameters. They also need a good lubricant grease. Otherwise, they will squeak terribly.
Have you considered Elephant Racing rubber bushings? These are maintainance and squeak free and will hold up well while giving a smoother ride. PolyBronze will be easier to lubricate due to their grease fittings but must be lubed regularly. If this is done, you will have smooth, precise suspension movement.

Thanks, but will the elephant bushings work with the sway a way plates?

I went with the elephant rubber bushings and highly recommend them. Why don't you go with some used factory adjustable plates those sway aways are clunky. Call chuck at elephant to see if his bushings would fit. You should also check your inner banana bushings as mine were shot. Urethane is really crappy and noisy.

I know the sway a ways are clunky but I like how I can change the ride height a bit easily. I am going to get new ones for the inner as well. I really dont want urethane if I dont have to. I have built many racecars over the years and this car is not going to be a racecar! I do want it to be fun though. One thing though is I dont want to do neatrix and have to replace them every year! I will email Chuck!

I compared the neatrix against his and the elephant are a tighter fit and a bit harder than neatrix so I think they should hold up well.

When i first built my car i used the hard plastic one, for about 2 months., then swapped out for poly bronze on the front and elephants rubber ones for the back. what a difference. As suggested above, just buy some stock adj. spring plates (i might have one more set left, will sell for the rite price, but i dont want to) and you will be much happier.

I need to see if the elephant ones will work on the sway a ways. I would rahter not use the SC ones for now.

The Elephant Racing parts are the factory-grade rubber, not urethane like the Sway-a-Ways you have now. The Elephant bushings function in shear and do not need lubrication for a squeak-free ride. I would suggest calling Chuck on his tech hotline to find out if they will fit. He should have some helpful installation instructions.

Thanks. I will do that. I used Chucks front rubber ones and they are really nice although a bit expensive. Thanks for all the help!
