Digital idle control for CIS
I've came up with the idea of retrofitting an idle stabilizer valve to the hoses used by the decel valve of my CIS car.
Having experience with digital controllers, I would build a control box accepting inputs from RPM, oil temp and throttle position and driving the stabilizer valve in order to maintain a steady idle during normal operation and a fast idle for cold starts. This would enable me to ditch the lever accelerator by the handbrake, which is a bit of a pain in my 74'... Has anyone tried this before ?? |

i just discovered the volvo idle control system. this would be easy to adapt to a 911.

Thanks. It can be done, but i think it's not worth it, specially as i dont have a/c.
More appealing are the possibilities of a digitally controlled wur, that i'm currently working on. |

you might take a look at the megasquirt ECUs. I adapt ITB/EFI systems to the 911 engine and have used these systems successfully to control fuel, ignition and Idle air control, etc. koz77911's channel - YouTube regards...............and good luck with your project. Al

i try to get away form electronics for reliability.
why not just update to a newer CIS?

You could retrofit a 76 or later CIS system for less than $200 that would eliminate your hand throttle, making it totally automatic. I've done it and it isn't that difficult.

newer cis? this seems like a great solution to the idle issues 911 owners have with the AAR being a purely mech device. its only good for cold start and closes pretty quickly. this system, which can be had at pickurpart, seems a logical upgrade.
