Part # needed

I am updating my front strut shock absorber, and wanted to know what is the part # for the small roll pin that hold the shock insert to the strut assembly. I can't find anything in the parts catalog neither into the Pelican catalog.

Can someone help!

Thank you

Stephan

Call Bilstein, (858) 386-5900, and see if they have a dealer near you, or can possibly overnight a pin to you.

On my 86 I just drop the shock into the strut and thread it down into place. No roll pin as in the earlier models. I wonder if you are referring to the wedge pin that locks in the ball joint to the strut?

Bilsteins use a roll pin that locks the insert to the strut.

This pic shows the roll pin right above the wedge bolt.

That's not mine I'm sad to say. It's just a pic I found while searching for a Bilstein strut.

Actually, not so nice. The ball joint/strut wedge pin/bolt is in backwards - the nut should go to the front of the car.

Yes, that's it guys, the small pin right above the shock mounting bolt/point.

I was wondering if those were easy to find at any automotive store, or only Bilstein has them.

Thanks again for the replies.

And if you do post their part number here for future reference.

roll pin size

The pin that they use is a M7 x 45

They sell them for $2 each

Ask for Clarence (800) 537 1085

Be wary of ordering them from any where else. I was able to find one that would fit but the wall thickness was much thinner than the one from Bilstien.
