Anyone know the physical location of the front condensor fan relay in a 1979 911?

Thanks

It is the first relay closest to the headlight on your fuse/relay panel.

AZR: Thanks. I am going through the living in Tucson A/C class 101. Have learned quite a bit since I started with a blank slate. Got temp at vent to 52 degrees in 105 weather but have since found that front fan does not come on. Also some vent leaks. Not entirely sure the old Seiko compressor is up to snuff though system pressure was 30 and 200. Did you ever conclude if floorboard mount aux fan is worth the effort?

Dude, 52 degree vent temps is really good, its a 53 differential over outside air. My car gets 55-60 degree vent temps in mid-day here in North Scottsdale. Today it was 113 and the old car was blowing 57, better than not having A/C I guess.

Did the fan used to work? Check it by unplugging it and connecting a hot and negative to it from the battery to see if it powers up, if it doesn't the motor is toast. You can buy a new motor from our host for $75.00 and rebuild it. I know how and can help you if you need it.

If the motor does fire up than its the relay or wiring. Have someone get in the car and turn the A/C on and off, keep your hand on the relay and try to feel for a click, if you don't feel it, it can be the relay or not, it gets kind of tricky. If it does not click the 3rd relay is the same as the AC relay, switch them and see if it does the trick. If you still get zip out of it, it is a wiring problem.

Unfortunately this happened in my car and I was not able to resolve it. The relay was okay because I switched it with the middle relay in the panel and it worked in that spot but did nothing in its original spot. I had to run a new circuit down to the fan, fused and switched with a small toggle under the dash, works like charm just not automatic, have to flick a switch to turn it on and off.
