Nice to start with a clean car - no rust repairs! You need some more power to go with the appearance package. It will take more oomph to push that wide body and the big wheels! 3.4 please. ;)

More power would be nice....but this is being done on the tightest of budgets.....I lucked out and got some fantastic deals on parts....otherwise....this never could have happened....Just hope I don't run out of money before I can finish it.

Nice thing with the power is that you can add it later as time and money permits. Do the paint last, so you can just run a $600 paint job if you run out of money. ;) Very nice project!

The paint is just going to cost me materials....My brother and I will be doing it....

Buckterrier 02-06-2010 02:47 AM

Good luck Don!! The car is going to me awesome.

stormmaster 02-06-2010 03:34 AM

I will be happy with presentable. But thanks for your kind words Mark

Buckterrier 02-06-2010 04:32 AM

What makes it awesome is you are doing it. I know what you mean though. What I try to remember is I do the best I can with the resources and knowhow I have. I painted the lower valence for the new exhaust this week in my garage. It has some dirt it it, a sag I had to sand & puff out. But it is the best I could do. And I did it. Your's will look great.

stormmaster 02-07-2010 09:46 AM

Mark I really appreciate your kind words....I think it will turn out nice....not to everybody's taste....but it is going to be just the way I like it on a budget I can afford.

Looks like a nice job, but I noticed the body filler was being applied over paint. Will that cause any problems?

KarlCarrera 02-07-2010 10:13 AM

WOW, looks like alot of work and fun. Nothing like having the vision and following through! Good to see you doing what YOU want to with your car. More power to you.

It's gonna look great!

I can sure appreciate budgets. Maybe we'll send you to D.C. :>)

There is no paint under filler....there might be some epoxy primer but not much....and there is very little filler, more of a skim coat than anything no worries about down the road.

Good to know. Didn't want you to have it release. Not pretty.

I appreciate your concern.....not my first rodeo

onboost 02-14-2010 09:11 AM

Storm.. any updates yet?

stormmaster 02-14-2010 09:40 AM

I am still working on the bottom side.....got the grille trimmed for the front bumper opening but haven't finished the final finishing of it yet. Hope to have the new wheels and tires next week....Body work should start next week as well....

stormmaster 02-26-2010 12:10 PM

Well here is the latest update....I got my 17 x 8 and 17 x 9.5 Wheels back from TruDesign. I had a set of BFG G-Force sports 225 front...275 rear mounted. Pardon the poor pictures but it was pretty cold and I was in a hurry. As you can see the car is pretty dirty from the start of the body work as well...hand water sanding the body down to primer is going to take some time and effort....but it will be worth it eventually. The wheels and tires have not been cleaned up at all at this point either....I just wanted to see if I got my offsets right....I am going to have to have the front fenders rolled before I can lower the front. So the stance is nowhere near where it will end up.

VERY, VERY nice Don. Your car is going to be awesome. I may have to take a ride down this summer just to see it in person!!. And beautiful wheels, wheels make the car.

spence88mph 02-26-2010 12:31 PM

Car is looking mean, reminds me of mine with the wide body and silver wheels, my wheels are the same finish from the factory, I think it was called silver flake, on the original invoice some where.

stormmaster 02-26-2010 12:51 PM

Spence.....My brother is going to hate you.....you have the car of his dreams....He has an M491 in stone grey....only his is a cabriolet....he keeps saying....I love the car.....but its not a coupe....Yours is a beauty. And thank you both for your kind words. Mark you are more than welcome to come down....if you do...try to make it on the first Sunday of the month so you can go to the local cars and coffee....Several of the local Pelicanites show up for it.
