6 = Unit type 6-cylinder engine. 2 = 911S – USA, 2.7, 165 hp. 7 = Model year 1977. 0384 = Consecutive serial number. This can be engine type 911/85 if for manual transmission or 911/90 if Sportomatic. This has a magnesium crankcase, 5-blade fan and thermal reactor exhaust. Best, Grady

So, what would the # designation on the Engine number be to designate the 3.0 ?>
This engine has a "2" which makes it a 2.7 . A 3.0 would be a " ? "
