Carbs idea... Enter with care
Anyone try a Holley 4 barrel on the Porsche flat six?
![]() ![]() ![]() It would be a lot cheaper than PMO's or Webers!

I think the end result was that they were acceptable and could idle decent and had some mid range stability, but some creative engineering had to be done and even then the results were just enough to be drivable. To much lag in the intake.

Emraer, care to elaborate on your creation? Engine size, dyno numbers, etc.???

Bunch of posts on the Holey carbs, I think that they might work on race cars but not so hot on street cars. Problems with icing up of the runners.

RSMan,
Not my creation, but fabricated by Bob Farmer on the west side of Indy. Here's his website...you might want to contact him for more info: Farmers Automotive JB mentioned carb ice, and I could see this as a very real possibility

Hmmmm... I'm thinking: heated grid for the icing problem?
Embraer, thanks, this is interesting. I wouldn't put an other than Porsche engine in my car car but who gives a rip what company meters the air and fuel. American carbs are a dime a dozen. It certainly deserves some thought. The motorcycle ITB's are an interesting approach too. BTW, is it your car?

no, not my car....although, i think it's a neat idea. after dealing with the twin SU's on my TR4, I have been trying to engineer a 2 barrel intake for that thing. i saw the 4 barrel set-up on Bob's website, and thought it was pretty cool.
i agree....who cares what's pumping the fuel into the engine, so long as it's effective and efficient? I have a set of BMW 1200 ITB's that i've been playing with, as well. (for the TR4). let me know what you find out...i'd be curious as to the drivability of the 4 barrel setup on the 911!
