Temporary Perfection
I think that's the best you can hope for with these cars. Everyone has their own project list, their own vision of exactly what their car should be. But as you get closer to your perfect car, a whole new punch list gets hung, usually inspired by someone else's car here. One great thing about these cars is just how fluid they are, constantly changing, always getting more perfect.
This car sat here sat for the last 10 years. When I bought it, gas was gushing out of a ruptured line in the back and the shift coupler had no bushings so it was going into third making you think the motor was junk. Indeed, the car is a 73, the motor is some variation of a 69 2.0T motor with Webers. Not really fast, but sprightly enough. For now. Since getting it, I've replaced/refurbished the entire fuel system, put in an all new suspension with F/R Bilstein HDs, bearings, ball joints, 19/26 bars, S alloy calipers up front, factory sways, adjustable spring plates in the back and installed some 205/55 and 225/50 SO3's on 7x15 cookies all around. Rehung the passenger door with new hinges, added driver H1s, my cherished Abarth steering wheel, a steel S front bumper, 67 driver's mirrorde-enameled badge and a 69 3-bar decklid grill. As it sits right now, other than the Webers still popping more than I would like and a oil leak at the driver side case oil line, it's my current, and very temporary, iteration of my perfect car. It is exactly what it should be, right now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Great car.
That Abarth steering wheel brings back some memories. I used to race cars back in the 80s and I had a little Fiat 500 with all the "upgrades". That was the perfect car for me at the time. Time to enjoy her and have some fun.

Isn't it interesting that these cars seem to look great in almost any condition? Here's a nice driver, but it looks great, warts and all.
Nice ride, Shaun.

+1 on the stance Shaun, and the 7" cookies really "work" with that car!
Now you just have to put a whole lotta miles on it this year, no exceptions

What's the offset on those 7x15 cookies? I've never really cared for them but they look great on that car.
I love it! |

Great car! Hopefully I will see it on the street. Just moved across the Charles from you in the North End. Keep my car in a garage in Woburn. See you around.

The offset on the 7x15" cookie cutters is the same 23mm as on the 7x15" Fuchs (except for the 7R) and the early 7x15" phone dials (pre-'87). They all fit the same on the early cars.
Sweet ride, Shaun! Drive it like you stole it... TT
