85 930 Engine Bolt Question
I recently removed my muffler a noticed bolt #1 in the photo below wasn't tight. It doesn't appear to be contacting any threads. Does this bolt thread into the engine case? Anyone know how long it should be?
Thanks

There is a long spacer behind that bolt. The bolt itself is very long and screws into the engine block. It is often left off because you cannot remove the bracket with the turbo in place (due to the turbo studs going through the bracket. Quite often that bolt is stripped as well.

Are these extra unthreaded castings on an SC/3.2 case there for various Turbo bits? And just don't get tapped for NA motors? ![]() ![]() Last time questioned their function some thought they were there to support cam gears instead of chains for the Porsche airplane motor. But one of them looks like where you say the mystery bolt should fasten. And the picture makes it appear that there are some extra bolts on the right side of things also.
