rpm problem
Here you have my rpm problem: when I drive the rpm is going well up but when I put gear to neutral rpm stop on 2500 -1500 rpm even if I stop the car. I found that if I engage softly and for short second a second gear (or third ...) and than disengage to neutral again I have 950 rpm like it should be. So it is frustrating to have to high rpm on neutral and it is difficult to engage first gear in 901 gearbox this case. What it could be, linkage on Weber's or anything else?

Check your linkages. From the engine compartment, manually move the accelerator connection to increase rpm and release. If the rpm's stay high after release, try pushing on the connector to see if the linkage reseats.
You might also check you distributor advance to see if it "snaps" back easily.

I'm not quite sure if I understand the problem, but maybe your throttle linkage is stickng?
I think this is G50 specific...when the weather warms, the portion of the throttle linkage which attaches on the driver's side of the tranny will get sticky in warm weather. Clean and lube the linkage and the bearing which mounts on the tranny.

My 1971 911 had that same problem prior to servicing.

In my view the gearbox has nothing to do with the engine RPM when disengaged.
I had the same problem with my 72. It was a sticking flapper box (not on a 71 though). Oiled the accelerator linkage and all fine now. Good luck. Ed |

I think you may have an interference issue with your throttle linkage and shift linkage(s) inside the tunnel. Good luck, Gerry
