I definately want to get together with some of you guys who have been so good to me these past few years.
The thought occured to me the other day of a great event that is in a sort of centeralized location in the North west that maybe some people would be interested in. Every May, my PCA (Silver sage) region sponsors a Hill Climb event in Boise, Idaho. The Bogus Basin Blanchialla... hell if i spelled that right... ![]() It lasts all weekend with the hill climb on Saturday and a fun Rally on Sunday morning. I did it in 2000 and had an abslolute blast! The hill climb is a stretch of twisty switchbacks about 2 miles long leading up to this Lodge on top of Bogus Basin Ski resort. Every driver (entrant) gets four runs. I think it would be awesome to have a strong showing of Pelicaneers at the event. I didn't get to run it last year because my motor was in tiny bits but you can be damn sure I'll be there this May. If I remember correctly entrance fees were only like $60. There are also lodges for rent or you can jusat stay in downtown Boise. In 2000, we had a guy drive his 944 from New York State, so don't think that this is just some sort of half assed hick party. From what I have been told, it is one of the last Hill climbs done in car clubs because of insurance purposes. Bottom line, it's loads of fun and fairly doable for anyone living in the NW, Utah, Nevada or Northern California. If anyone is interested let me know! Jack, I know you want to try Black Beauty out on a "real mans" hill. Jdub, Doug, Jim, Paul, island, Davis911s??? WHO'S WITH ME!!!!

I don't know any of you "Pelican" folks yet, but I'm making plans to bring either Rudi (75 US Carrera w/ 2.7 MFI) or Kermie (73 RS replica w/ 3.2 Motronic) to Bogus Basin. I've heard too many good things about the event.... especially the fun quotient. Hope to meet some of you there. -Doug

I'm coming down this year, for sure.
Leland, There's a couple more on the SCCA Solo schedule that look interesting.

Here is a link to the Silver Sage regions website.
I have emailed a friend to see if anything's changed since I last attended. Will post more info as I get it! This would be so much fun!! http://vista.pca.org//ss/BBB2001Event.htm

What's the exact date? R Gruppe is May 3-6 (?), and Open Track Challenge is May 11-19. Other than that, I'm game.
(Lucky I've got a flexible boss. ![]()

"This holiday season, as we laugh and eat and shop
and enjoy friends and family, our soldiers are in Afghanistan risking everything for us. Some of them won't come back. The rest will never be the same. Every one of them volunteered. They think we're worth it. Let's prove them right." Nick? You'll have to search a long time before finding anybody here to disagree with that. KUDOS! Paul |

Doug, just message me if you can't get through with an email.
If the date stays the same, it will be Memorial day weekend. The last weekend of the month. At least it has for like the past 20 years. I'm waiting on a reply from one of this years organisers. I will be back by May, unless WWIII kicks off, by hook or by crook... I'll be there. I might accidentially sprain my ankle or something... ![]() If some of you guys could make it down that would be rad. yes, I even whipped out "rad" ... ![]() ...and Paul,... Don't even think you are going to weezle your way out of this one... I can read your mind.... a thousand miles on your 40K baby??!!

Leland that sounds great. Boise is 800 miles from where I am moving to. I hope to be there in April so lets just hope I (and the car) can make it.
I will do all that I can to be there! Shawn

Leland,
Its a bit of a drive for those of in the Eastern half of the country to Idaho but it sure sounds nice. When you head back to CONUS do you have any idea where you and the others in the sandbox will be flying back into from the Middle East? Dover? Dobbins? Might have a get together there and kill a few brain cells if you could get a day off before heading to back to MHAFB. How much notice do you think you guys would have and will they give you any idea on your itinary at this time? JA

Joe, there is just absolutely no way of knowing. We could fly commercial, or military airlift. We could follow like 25 flight plans as well. There just isn't any way to tell. Someone could walk in here tonight and tell us to pack up, and that we have 72 hours to get on the bird.
It is a very nice jesture though.. Thank you

Leland,
Not surprised but thanks for the info anyway. When you get the 72 hour heads-up call, pls let us know and am sure someone in the area where you land will buy the first round! Joe
