Long overdue introduction - my "Tarp" find

I was looking for a project car and knew my uncle had a porsche that he purchased after safely returning from Vietnam, but I had never seen it since he lived across the country (CA). He recently moved here to Texas and After some coaxing we pulled the tarp off and made a deal.

I had inteded to get it running and use it as a daily driver. It all started with wanting to put in some new carpet

Long story short, replaced all front and rear suspention bushings, lots of rust remidiation, added front sway bar, replace suspention pan, replace battery boxes (good ol unc, couldn't fit the battery so he sawzalled the boxes to get the batteries to fit, although you have got to love military guys. I have every receipt from purchase to now 4" thick folder of documentation), lots of POR and TLC to the uncoating and interior, TLC engine compartment, resto luggage compartment, and off to paint this month.

Thanks to you all for participating in this wonderful forum. The wealth on knowledge here is tremendous as has allowed me to do this project with limited mechanical experience.

Here are some addtional pics , I know my work is not the greatest but I have done it all myself and thats what its all about to me.

In a word, outstanding!

That rear package tray survived better that most.

great job

your attention to detail is what makes this car stand out in the trunk area, no over spray and all the little details that normally get over looked you have not missed. the small details is what separates a nice car from a really nice car.

keep up this work and you will have one beautiful car.

cheers ed
