do you have a separate intermittent button or switch for your wipers? What happens when you jiggle your wiper stalk?

Chances are, one or both of these switches are old and/or dirty. I recently had a similar problem. I replaced the wiper stalk, and everything now works perfectly.

Does the intermittant function work? If not, could be a bad intermittant relay, as it is used to return the wipers to park when they are shut off.

wiper park

Pull the assembly off the column (leaving all wires attached) and check all the contacts inside. One of the small contact tabs inside has likely lost its rigidness. I should have taken pictures but basically pull it out and use a small screw driver to bend the tabs back until they make contact while in the park position.

It solved my problem. You would need to take it apart to replace anyway. Just take your time and fiddle with it. It may save you $100 dollars in parts.

yeah try to push forward on the wiper stalk, if they park, then do what jsmithcds says. Most likely the intermittent wipers don't work also.
