Check this diode.

It's located adjacent to the light switch
on a very small PC board.

Note: This diode was only used on the '86 3.2 cars.

Starting in '87, an updated light switch was introduced,
(-03), with one additional contact.

Good luck,

Gerry

On the 86, there is a diode in the circuit. It is usually under the knee rest just below the ignition key, or jut to the left of it. It's in a white/clear square case, similar to a fuse holder.

Make sure the bulb's contact is not corroded, mine was and after cleaning it worked fine.

I discovered this because I thought bulb was out but when I started to remove it with the running lights on, it came on when I put it back it went out. I proceeded to clean it, Voila no more issue.

Correct. Everything old is new again. I asked this same question and got the same answer all the way back in 2001! Exorcist Needed: Parking Light Diode
