Axle conversion expertise needed (HELP)
Hello everyone!
I still haven't managed to get my SWB on the road as I cannot solve this axle issue. It's all shiny, polished and ready to go. It is soooo frustrating. All those ponies just sitting there waiting to be set free! It is running a 915 box with the 6 bolt large flange and I need to find a solution to make this compatible with the steel trailing arms (from a 912). I assume it would have had a 901 box once upon a time. If anyone can help it would be really appreciated. ![]() |

Is there a different stub axle solution you can go too??
Moreover. . . can a 911 stub be machined reasonable to work?? . . I dunno, I'm unfamiliar.

Try a PM to a fellow Pelican named Bill Bowser, his Pelican ID is WILYWILLY.
He stuffed a 993 3.6 with Webers and crankfire ign into his '67SWB with a 915. His biggest dilema was the same one you are facing with the axles and steel trailing arms. Bill had some new axles made by a firm in Chicago. No idea of the price or specs, but perhaps he could give you some addl info. By the way, his car is a ROCKET! If you search his threads, you'll find some pics of his project. Here's a older post from someone doing something similar: HELP please - putting a 915 into a SWB - axle set-up?
