My brown 75 turbo look:

To the 73 RSR look, I hear the new owner put 17" Lindsey's with RSR finish on it. Must look amazing.

These are all incredible cars. Thanks everyone for sharing thus far.

Question to those of you that have made the transformation: What was the most costly part of the process? -or- What was the most difficult obstacle to overcome?

My wheels were the most costly part.....The most difficult part was deciding to do it....then see it through as it took longer than I wanted. But I did it all myself....Had I farmed it out to a shop to do the labor would have been far beyond my pocketbook. I did mine on an extremely tight budget.

THE WIFE!! on both counts!

Seriously though. Not having the knowledge and getting the wrong advice. Taking people at their word and not researching the facts. This cost me alot of time and money!!

Have a definate goal and plan for your mods. ie engine g/box wanted. body type ( targa, coupe, sunroof or not) width of finished product. This will give you a base car to start with. The better the car here will save you plenty in the long run including time. Dont worry about losing "the one" get it checked out properly there is always another deal!

Regards

I wish I had the space/knowledge to go about it that way. I have a feeling I'll have to outsource the labor when the time comes. Cheers to you for doing it on your own!

Well I already have the car so it's really a matter of justifying it to myself and doing the research. When I do bite the bullet and commit to the project I'll have exactly what I want in mind. There are far too many photos of beautiful cars on here to not have a good idea of what it should look like.

Hopefully yours turned out the way you'd planned (once you overcame those obstacles).

Best,

Matt

Alex, is your car still running a Jon Warring engine. I thought the engine in the red car was sold to go into an IROC replica (but I could be mistaken).

As you mentioned His race engine went to another car! I did however get him to build a 3.2 and 915 for this car. It has the coil overs and brake bias adjustment along with a few other goodies. He is running a 993 now and he is as fast as ever. not bad for a pentioner!!!
