another "what is this" thread...

Been working on cleaning out my engine bay (still a wrork in progress):

As I am removing my blower, I notice this ~1/2 inch line that looks to be rubber hose wrapped in braided fabric. It is coming out from the driver's side rear fender area I believe. The other end, as you can see, is not attached to anything. What should it be attached to?

Looks like one of the two lines for the charcoal-canister system. The canister is up in front of the oil fill on the other side of the engine bay.

yes, you are right. It is the other end of the line that comes across behind CIS from the Charcoal cannister... but where is this end supposed to be hooked up to? Got my Betley out as we speak.

Goes on the airbox down by the 3 intake runners.

OK, that is it! Dang, looks like it has been off for a little while as it is not even long enough to reach the airbox. As I understand things, this should be messing with my CIS as unmetered air, right? So, should I notice a great improvement in any after I hook this back up?

It looks like this one comes straight from the cannister to the airbox, albeit a scenic route through the engine bay... It figures I just received my order from PP where I ordered just about every other hose in bulk to refurb all my vac lines, etc. Except for this one of course. Is there anything special about this that I can't get it from the FLAPS?

Oh yes I would say so, no doubt the car has been adjusted to run with that big hole in the intake so you might have to reset the idle and maybe the mixture. Any hose will do unless your concoursing it!!
