Quiet muffler that doesn't kill power, does one exist?

I need to come up with a new muffler for my SC as the old Flowmaster 80 isn't going to cut it next year. I'm thinking Magnaflo 2-in/2-out this time but not sure if that will get me any lower db (figure 90db max at Limerock). I have two baffles crammed in the tailpipes now but it's killing power...

I think Ben of M&K has been asked about this several times. You might check with him. Everybody says his mufflers are great quality and a good value.

but, as Gary knows, you might need to baffle it for certain (lime rock) tracks.

Gary, I'm still a believer, go M&K, in 5 minutes, you can baffle it for Lime rock, unbaffle it for others.....

Marv - Ben makes a great muffler but being quiet isn't one of it's attributes..
Lewis - I run straight pipes off my headers at all other tracks I go to, Limerock is the only one that (over) enforces sound restrictions.

You need cubic inches to quiet a car down, look for the biggest box that fits in the allotted space. If you are good w/ c/f you can make your own chamber that is contoured and extended into the available space, put the inlets right at the end of the collector ala the older twin inlet oems, internally you just run holey internals, stabbing the hole is better than drilling, the holey pipe is wrapped in f/g or ss or c/f wool, the longer the holey pipe is the better so perhaps a double pass(it will be harder to accommodate the 4 lengths) w/ outlet on the same side as the inlet for that bank

Alternatively the longest Burns race muffler that can be fitted transversely, 1 for each bank

Although my magnaflow is a 1 in 1 out with cat delete, it is pretty quiet and I believe it's a straight through design.
Low and rumbly but opens up when in the higher revs.

It's the sound at 6500-7000 that usually gets me...

I have a 2-in, 2-out "street" Triad and it is very quiet and makes decent power. I have actually taken it off the car and installed a factory sport muffler because the Triad was too quite for my tastes.

You might look into the Sycip sport muffler, sold here by our host. It is a great dual purpose solution.

Would you want to sell the Triad? Which model is it? I have an email into them to discuss possible solutions.

I replaced my original design with a Dansk painted stainless steel and it's much quieter than the "original" probably because of all the holes in it! It looks much like the OEM and probably has been supplied to Porsche as OEM in the present and past. Got a great price, less than $400 on the net.

Dansk sport, 2 in, 1 out if your car has ssi's. It's not quiet and it's not loud at all-kind of perfect.

This is the Triad I have. It has a little surface rust, but is completely solid. I only used it for about 10k miles. I'd consider selling it. PM me if you're interested.

That was when the pipes were new, and while they still look good I don't do any polishing!

What a design. Doesn't look like it would be very efficient but what do I know.
