Relay sockets under dash???

Hi,
I have a 78' SC and am installing the rats nest wire harness after a "strip it bare" repaint.
My question is: What are the 6 relay sockets that mount in the holes on the drivers side under dash for? or better yet, why are they there and not in the fuse block? My car has power- not a whole lot. I have only two sockets in the fuse block.

This is the view from the trunk so the relays, if needed, would be installed from under the dash?
Do I have these installed correctly?

Those aren't relays, they're power feedthroughs. You have 6 plugs on the inside (otherside of the bulkhead) that plug in there, then feed all of the interior power.

That makes sense... do you have any idea what they feed?
I apologize, I didn't take this car apart and this is my first 911.
I have boxes of parts to decifer and have yet to run across any wires that look like they would plug into them.
Perhaps my car doesn't use any of these. It's basically a no option car. The only power equipment it had was a power/heated drivers mirror and headlight squirters, the harness for them anyway.

It's power for things like running the gauges, interior lights, etc.

If you have the "in cab area" wiring harness, it should have 3 of those plugs (they look like the 5 pin relays, which is why you thought that). I'm pretty sure the "in cab" harness has 3 plugs, and the "inside the bonnet" harness has 3 plugs, which feeds the fresh air blower, etc.

Basically, all of the electrical stuff in and near the dash, on both sides.

I did a quicky look around the parts section here, but didn't see anything like the wiring harness to show you.

You might make a new thread (unless you can change the title to this one), asking about the interior wiring harness connection, or bulkhead connections, or under dash connections, something like that. There's plenty of people here who have put together what you're working on, but they might not notice a thread about under dash relays, since those don't exist.

OK, I think I get it... things like the combo switches, heater controls and such plug in to them.
Thanks very much.

I don't know if things are different on a 78, but if there are plugs for relays on the other side for relays I think you've reversed the installation. The relays are usually in the trunk compartment behind the instruments. The relays are for blinkers emergency brake flashers etc. As far as I know there are no relays in the passenger compartment.
