My Triumph Speed Triple project update

or..... what I did on my summer vacation...........As some of you know i have been working on a DIY EFI kit. I've adapted Triumph Speed Triple EFI ITBs to the 911 engine, via weber manifolds, custom adapters, mounting brackets, fuel rails, etc. I was sidetracked for the last two years while restoring my 71E, but now it's EFI time. I was trying for retro-cool ITB's with modern engine management. I am using Megasquirt as the ECU for fuel, idle air and ignition control (as soon as the Ford EDIS system is hooked up). Tuning with a laptop.....gotta love it. I still have a few things to do, mostly cosmetic, wire routing, etc.....but for all practical purposes, this is a working unit....I am a happy camper. This rocks!!!!!!

I've attached a few pix, and a little movie, of the evolution...design thru fire up. Let me know what you think.

Regards,

Al

PS: Thanks to Tony Otero (Wolverine). He volunteered himself and his engine to Beta test this system. Big ones....that's his engine I'm playing with. We'll install this into his fantastic IROC clone project, this Thanksgiving weekend. Check out his posts regarding his IROC project.

CHECK OUT THIS MOVIE!!!!

Edis

James,
Thanks...I do have a complete EDIS or two, and have been working on the wiring, etc. today. I thank you for the offer, but I think that I am ok at this time.......I just finished the crank pulley today....should have the ignition system up and running by next weekend. Stop on by for a beer.

Regards,

Al

Bob,
I am an Industrial Designer and currently I work as Director of Engineering for a little automotive, off-road/on-road trucking, sensors and controls company. In my spare time I design aftermarket parts for 911s. I have a dozen or so ideas.....and this is the 1st one to pop out. Not retired yet...but working on it.

Regards,

Al

PS: You are on the list

Wow! I watched the video and that started up and idled remarkably smooth...I guess I was expecting it to sound like a snarling badly tuned v8.

The inward tilt gives the intake it's personality all alone. Very menacing look, indeed- I like it.
I think you should develop some type of filters that can slip into those stacks if only to preserve that look, it's definitely cool.

Bravo, indeed.

Edit- I'm referring to the stacks in the last two pics

Mark (Carrerax)..thanks for the kind words. I am pumped...this really runs great and I can control the A/F mix and ignition curve throughout the range.....at least on my engine stand. Next step is to install this into Tony's IROC and tune it up while driving.

Regards,

Al

PS: I've been following your build.......your engine is a work of art......you are setting the bar high.

Joe Bob,
Thanks........I like the stealth.....satin/flat black too. I do .....however think that the chrome stacks add just the right amount of bling, so I'm keeping those, as is. With the foam socks on them, I think that they'll be just right. We'll see.

Regards,

Al

ratpiper,
thanks.....I am planning on filter socks over the top.....I have looked at a dozen or so likely candidates, but haven't purchased any yet. This is Tony Otero's (Wolverine) engine and I meet with him to review the choices, so that he ends up with something that fits into his vision of how his IROC project should turn out.

Regards,

Al

PS: If you see any filters out there that you think will work.......pm me with a link.
