Wow! I'm really impressed by this. I'm starting to plan out a project and was thinking a lot about building my own EFI and in my mind it pretty much looked like... well... THIS!

Thank you for sharing this! You just might have a future customer, if I can ever get my butt in gear with my build.

scooter, if you pm me with your email address, I can send you a doc that outlines some price/feature options. It will give you a good idea of what's available , system costs, etc. Lots of options.

regards,
a

Digging this back up,

Are Speed Triple TBs still worth investigating? What are the options for intake manifolds for them these days?

I was looking at the CCM manifolds, and they seem like an easy button, except the description says "38mm port at head" which seems like an odd number, as the only engine I can find with that size intake ports (according to Wayne's book anyway) was the 906, or a factory race engine from 1971.

My car is a Late SC with 34mm intake ports.

Thanks,

These work great, most affordable ITB on the market. CCM's linkage is good and Clay has done a great job outlining just what needs to be done to set them up properly.

With your 34mm heads, that will certainly limit power with anything, not just these ITBs. I would highly suggest opening them to 38mm if you're going to use this setup, otherwise there's really no point IMO.

Just curious, why did you move to the RDH setup away from the Triumph ITBs? They seem to be shorter, and a straighter shot into the ports, is that it or is there more?

Thanks,

Porting the heads are the long term plan when it needs a top end, but it isn't there yet. The engine is a short stroke 3.2, twin plug with 964 cams and CIS, and runs strong, with plenty of torque (which is why Porsche went with 34mm ports in the first place). I think it will benefit from ITBs and EFI over the original CIS. Not as much as if I ported it and dropped in a big cam, but one step at a time.

I did contact Clay through his web site, he said that PMO makes a tapered heat insulator from 38 to 34mm, which should be a workable solution to that issue.

I actually addressed the same question in a related post..

"There may be some benefit to the direct-to-head design over the Triumph, PMO, Weber type manifold design, but I suspect that it will be negligible for all but the most dedicated track machine........more of a different strokes, I think. I was the 1st or one of the 1st to adapt the Speed Triple ITBs to Weber manifolds/911 engines. When I started.... this was a great, economical method for providing DIY EFI systems. After many years of successful installs.....many have seen the value, but there is diminishing supply and rising prices for the Triumph ITBs. I saw this coming a couple years ago and knew that if I wanted to continue to supply a nice system for reasonable prices, I would need to search for an alternative.....I started working with RHD, hoping to end up with a great alternative system, that was designed specifically for the 911 and did not need to be adapted...and could be offered at similar pricing. ......and I believe that we did it........."

The work at RHD continues and now we can offer several sizes of t'bodies to closely match the intake ports and engine requirements.......and they are pretty effing cool too!!!

regards,
al

Hey Al, is there a comparable system available for us 4 cylinder guys?
I have a frankenmotor in my 912, a 2.2 liter Type 4. Will the RHD throttle bodies fit my manifolds/spacing?

thanks!

The typical RHD throttle body is Weber DCOE pattern regarding the manifolds they will fit.

Adam,
there is a comparable system for the type IV. I've just bought a Type IV for this very purpose and I've been researching. PM me with your email address and I'll email you some info.
regards,
al
