you can actually get a radio and even AC....what are they thinkin'?....all the weight savings can be gobbled up with options...I guess they can't really hotrod the cayman too much or else they'd be encroaching on 911 territory

Not even close to being worthy of the "R" Porsche emblem.

It's the cayman version of the Boxster Spyder, which everyone knew was coming. Problem is, there are no radical styling differences to generate excitement like with the Spyder. Big yawn here.

I really hate to see them bring back that side graphic on this. It belongs to the retro 911 and it should stay that way. They're f'in up a great thing by putting it on the boxster spyder and now this. Leave it in the past where it belongs.

Not impressed at all. Too expensive for what you get (and don't get).

Radical indeed……is this a joke?:

"The result? No radio. No air conditioning system. No cupholders. Instead, 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels, sport bucket seats, and 330 hp. In short, 121 lbs. (55 kg) less and 10 hp more than the Cayman S."

19" alloy wheels....next level stuff here....

Sorry Porsche but that "result" is an uncomfortable daily driver with only 10 more HP can't wait to see the radical Porsche enthusiasts that actually buy one.

I have heard that the Boxster Spyder suspension is the best suspension they ever put on a Boxster/Cayman. It would be worth it if it had that and the AC...

I love Porsche and I am not trying to pile on, but the Cayman design looked marginal to me when it came out. Over time, it looks less and less appealing.

In most trim levels, the Boxster still looks good IMO. I even love the look of 914's. But, the Cayman--yuk.

Fella's, The Cayman and Cayman R are more real "Porsche" than any recent Porsche to date! These cars will out handle most all 911 cars from the past 50 years. Give them the credit that is due. Please. The first Porsche had a mid engine design. I love my 911 but my friends Cayman S is the best car I have ever driven. Period. Nick

Is the Spyder lighter? If so, I like it better.

to paraphrase Faulkner;
"for Porsche history isn't dead, it isn't even history."

or; the Death of Porsche by 1000 Cuts...

Act 1: 1965 / passing of the 356
Act 2: 1973 / passing of family management
Act 3: 1977 / water-cooled 924
Act 4: 1989 / passing of the True 911
Act 5: 1997 / passing of the air-cooled flat 6 911
Act 6: 1998 / water-cooled 911
Act 7: now, this abomination of a mid-engine coupe

this company is so screwed up I can't believe they're still in business.
someone should buy 'em & fix everything.
