size tires for a 2.7 ??????

I'm working on a narrowbody 2.7 s '75.

now I have two 6x15 and two 7x15 fuchs and I need the tires and would your advice.

what size for the tires buy ????????

the car is more racing with roll cages and sparco seats, and more pieces racing.

You could fit a 205/225 set up, or maybe even a 195/215. Your wheels are a little narrow so the 225's could be a little ballooned but it'd still work.

I use the 205 50 15 for a lower stance and also the tires come in more varieties..I have the 205 60 15 on one set of rims and it provides for a taller stance...lets say a normal everyday look.

7" wheels with 215s I think will rub on a narrow body. I think I'd go with 205/60s front & back.

My narrow body 71 911T gets a little bit of rubbing (front and rear actually) with a 205/55-16 on factory 911 16x7 Fuchs (off a later car of course) on all 4's. My ride height is a little lower than original and the rubbing is only in heavy cornering. Alignment (camber) and ride height are large factors in this.
The choices for tires in a 205/55-16 are nearly endless and thus less costly. I wouldn't push much more than a 205 in the rear unless you like the cresent shaped burned paint look on the rear fenders or don't drive the car very enthusiastically. Some see those marks as a badge of honor.....

Please provide photos of both situations.

In my opinion (does not show up so much in photos) the 50 series tires look sort of like golf cart tires as they do not fill out the wheel wells. You would have to lower the car an awful lot to conceal this.

Here is mine with both.

205/50 x 15's will work fine. 215/50 x 15's may or may not work at the rear... you'll have to fit them and see.

My 74 has the stock Fuchs and a 205/60-15 rubs the lr fender. The fender has not been "rolled".

If the additional inch of width is to the inside, you may get a larger tire to fit.

205's all around.

As noted, 225s will rub in the rear, depending on ride height, camber and alignment settings. 205s should fit, perhaps with just a fender lip rolling.

The challenge with regular 911 7" wheels is that the additional width is towards the OUTSIDE of the car, and will not fit easily under the rear fender. However, the 911 does have room towards the INSIDE of the fender.

The only 7"s that really fit, are the 911R wheels with their 49mm offset. Even then, you may get some rubbing on the oil lines on the right side. My folks ran 911R wheels with 225/50-15s and had NO rubbing issues, and a correct rideheight. (ie, not all jacked up in the rear) on their '74 911S

The only other modern wheel porsche makes that comes close is the "late offset" 7x15 phone dial from a 87+ 944. These had a 52.3mm offset.

If the motor is stock (ie, 160hp), you really don't need more than 205 (which is 8" of rubber) especially considering how much tire technology has improved since the "then new" 185 tires that the car came with.

50 series tires will certainly "waken up" the acceleration of the car with the sacrifice of top speed.

205/60/15 on Helga. I have 6" rims on the front and 7" rims on the rear.

The 60 give a fuller look if the car has not been lowered. The 50s make the car even lower to the ground but work just fine.

you're the first guy around here that say 7" wide Fuchs don't have to be rolled that i know of

I have 7Jx16 Fuchs on the front of my car. 205/55-16 Yokohama Advan A048s. No problems. I have fiberglass fenders, so no rolling. The only thing is that on the driver side, the corner of the bumper where it meets the fender was just brushing the tire shoulder when pulling lots of lateral Gs in a right turn with a lot of steering lock on. A little filing cured that. I have heard of people having similar issues with steel panels. It seems that side is tighter than the other for some reason.
