What fan tool is needed for a 2.7 pulley

What fan tool is needed to take the belt off a 2.7 engine? Is it the J Tool or the one with the two pronges sticking out? or is that one in the same? I am trying to get a tool kit together.

It depends on which 2.7 year and type (49-state or California) and if original.

There are three types:
The one that fits ’64-’74.
The ’75.
The ’76 with long pins (worthless).
The ’76-’77 hook-type.

That is from my lame memory so someone correct me if different.

Best,
Grady

You've got no pulley but those holes seem to be for the two pronged early tool.

My pulley has the holes as well. Is it the J-Tool like this one?

I have a California car and mine used the same as the above picture with the holes in the pulley edge.
I've since changed it and I liked the holes in the edge better.

My guess would be. If you have holes on the edge of the pulley use the one that looks like a C.
If you don't have holes on the edge of the pulley you have to go through the pulley and need the one with prongs.

It's the straight 2 prong one. Has a small c section cut out.
