Power mirrors click

I have a 1985 911 Carrera. My power mirrors are not working. They click only. I've checked the fuse, fuse 5, it looks ok. I'm not an electronics expert. really dont know how to use an ohm meter. Both sides do the same thing, so I was hoping it would be a fuse. Has anyone had this problem? Click only? Not sure where to start.

Just recently another pelican posted pics etc... rebuilding his mirror because of the same issue. Do a search and I am sure it will answer all the questions - it was very detailed.

Just checking the fuse may not be enough.....roll it in the receptacle. It may have corrosion, replacing it might do it.

It's not a circuit that is used a lot. I use mine once in a while just to exercise it.....

Cool

Better yet - just trade it in for a 911 from the 60s before Porsche added all the power and foo-foo accesories. Unless my arm breaks, the Durant mirror is fully adjustable!

Just funnin with ya. There are some links on the forum about rebuilding the mirrors.

Have you recently, removed the trim/panel for some work?

Check the switch itself. If removed frequently the connector may fracture and a contact/s may be dislodged. Ask me how I know :-(

Since you are getting a CLICK it is most likely you have power to the switch but the negative ground may not have a good contact.

Remove the switch to see if the contacts are bent or pushed back due to misalignment.

If the contacts are in place, make sure any corrosion is removed,
