dunkels anyone?
Just curious if any of the BBS crowd are going to Dunkels this weekend. Has anyone thought of having an informal get together?
Having never been to Dunkels before I don't know what to expect. Sounds like it will be fun.

Goin' South
Big weekend in LA. I am flying down to Okland from Portland Friday morning then ridin' down to LA with a couple of R Gruppe friends. We are going to a get together Friday night a Road and Race with R Grupper Dave Buhain, then Sat. to the Lit. show at the LAX Hilton, then Sunday at Dunkel Bros. we are camping next door to Dunkel Bros at the Ramada Inn.
R Gruppe will have a table somewhere, stop by and say "Hello" This is my first time but I hear it is worth the trip. Should be tons of 356's, 911's and Porsche race cars. Plus great stuff to buy two days in a row. WOW!!! We have at least four members going from the Pacific Northwest that I am aware of, maybe more! Randy Jones 1971 911 R Gruppe Pac-West Chapter |

I live very close to Dunkel's, and go every year. It is getting bigger and better. We usually get a very good showing from the Orange county region.
Weatherman says highs around 67, some early morning fog burning off to partly clowdy in the afternoon. Not too bad. Several of us are planning to hit a local pizza parlor after the show/swap meet, but nothing fancy. Look forward to meeting you. |

I will be there too. I always seem to miss it for some reason or another. Should be a great turn out. Looking forward to meeting some of you.

Where is the SCWDP booth going to be this year?
BTW, if anyone else is looking for a whale tail for an SC, the swap meet starts after 10:00AM :-) just kidding. So far the bet is that Jerry Seinfeld will show up in a GT2, but not for certain. I also hear that he is trying (and has been for some time) trying to buy the famous Dunkel bubble car. Anyone care to guess if Jay Leno will drive his old Bugatti? Not sure what year it is, my guess is mid to late 20's. |

I'm going! It's my first time and looks to be a great day trip.
Where is R Gruppe meeting on Sunday? It looks as though I may be able to bring my project car. Except for a few minor details, it's about done! Performed very well on the road this past Sunday. Let me know. ![]()

I'm trying to work it so I can go. Won't have the Porsche with me, but I'll try to bring the digital camera.
On a somewhat related note, I'm also going to go to a track day on the 15th of February at Laguna. It's cheap -- $175, if I remember right, with the Shelby Club. If anyone else is planning on (or considering) going, email me.

Awesome. I am definitely up for pizza or whatever. I'll have a friend from Santa Barbara with me looking for 914 parts as well.
I'm bringing a working CDS box from my 72 to hopefully sell/swap. I'll have the 911 with me. Anyone want to give me MFI advice on the spot? ![]() ![]() ![]()

There should definitely be some sort of informal Pelican-head gathering; maybe that breakfast on Sat. that earlySreg is having? Wayne should be there I would think, or at the swap meets?

Does anyone know if the 914 guys are having a run? I guess Anaheim is not the ideal place for one.
![]() I agree with speeder, there should definitely be something especially given that some folks are coming from far and wide to attend. I am not a member of any of the secret societies (SCWDP, early S etc) so I don't know what conflicts there are. ![]()

Many of the 914 guys (and at least one pelican guy) will be at Hooter's in newport beach on saturday afternoon at around 3 pm. I can't make it, but there will be plenty of other crazies to take my place.
BTW, does anyone else have a picture of one of their Porsches on the wall of a hooters? http://www.nosubstitute.org/events/Sammy2Dec00/H5.JPG Sam (pround as all get out). Last edited by sammyg2; 02-05-2002 at 07:46 PM.. |
