Tsunami warning for pacific from Japanese earthquake!!
We are in the process of packing to evacuate our low lying neighborhood. All ready shuffled cars to high ground. Horrible scene in Japan!!! Good advanced warning. still hours till arrival. We are hoping for the best!!! Its going to be a long night. I hope to check back in the morning after the all clear. Cheers Richard |

Oregon coast, 50 miles from where I am now, also getting an upgrade from watch to warning.
do take care of yourself who are on the coast line. evacuate now. that water is deadly. horrible to see in tv screen people sucked in to the water. obviously they underestimated the power. my brother is now on his foot walking back home...he works in tokyo... would take hours for him to get back. at least he is okay...

Head for the hills!
And I just bought this very nice C-2 cab and parked it at my friends home across the street from a south west facing beach park. I live fare enough inland so should be ok. Hope this is not my or my C-2's final Aloha. |

Morro bay is expecting a 4 foot sea level rise for 10-15 minute periods (that is their description of the tsunami in the warning).
Here is some video of it swamping a Japanese airport: Japan's Tsunami Wave Hits Sendai Airport: Video : Discovery News

Whew, I guess we dodged a bullet last night, Very little problems here on Kauai. Really gave a pause last night while packing to leave, About how much we love our home. And hope to find it still here when we come back.
It was all good news here this morning when the all clear came out. Thanks to all here for the well wishes, It was funny how much I wanted to share the situation with my Pelican friends last night, thanks for being there! My thoughts and prayers go out to those that weren't so lucky in this disaster. Richard |

Glad to hear all went well for you Richard.
Another bright note on a day that has been horiffic for many. This morning I was drinking my coffee and watching the local Fox news station before starting my day. report the Earth quake and pending Tsunami for Hawaii. The local news station in Hawaii starts interviwing a guy in Oahu, I watch and then it dawns on me thats Jeff Peterson I went to high school with him and played football with his brother. Here he is being interviewed from his house in Oahu 7,000+ miles away from our little beach town of North Wildwood, NJ and telling his family here at home he is ok not to worry. It was so cool he was concerned that the Tsunami might wash his surfboard shed out to sea. |
