first drive of the summer!!! unstable?

YAHOOOOO!!!!! Loooooong winter season coming to a close I took the car out today! BUT at 130mph she seemed a bit unstable at the back end. Tire pressures were off by 1.5lbs on one side. Is that enough to give you an unsettling feeling at speed? Or should I be looking for something else?

check the tire balance, may be a flat spot from sitting so long, should smooth out later.

Mike,
You probably need a rear spoiler of some sort.
The pic shows the rear of this 911 starting to lift - autobahn speed unknown.
Or do you have one already - what year is your car ?

Cheers,
Dennis.

Wow,looks like he just dropped his engine....interesting picture. Would be good to know the speed however, since my car doesn't have any aero aids. The license plate is a nice touch too. Cheers

You could always try an alignment.

unstable?

so how long had the car been driven before unstable? wobbly as you built up speed--tire flat spots not yet worked out? had the car been up on stands during the storage?
any mods over the winter?

unstable

Car as pictured here with no new mods. But this is the first year I DID NOT put it up on blocks for the winter. (fellow pelican said he never does). Hope I don't need to replace the rubber now! Dennis, cool pic, never seen a 911 sitting that high before! Drove the car at speeds of less than 80mph for 45 min or so before winding it up a bit. Then when I lifted off to let her settle again she really felt light. Thanks for all your info guys I really appreciate it!

I know how you feel ... lol
I just took mine out today after it was sitting since last November. In the meantime i replaced the front arm bushings over the Winter and the car felt funny!

It now sits way too high in the front, maybe that's why it felt different.Time to go play with the front height adjustment again ...

Cheers !

Well you got the tail, so I am still leaning towards flat spots since this was the first year you let her sit on her rubbers.

Check tire pressure and re-balance her.

A tail but no front splitter to "balance"...this can cause a porpoise like motion...

Get caught doing 130 in Oregon, get ready to forfeit your car...unless it's track driving.

Also not smart to post of driving 130, then post a pic showing your license plate...

It appears he has the factory air dam which was what the factory deemed sufficient to balance the rear spoiler. Without sufficient front downforce, it should feel rather understeer-y but still very susceptable to crosswinds. With too much front downforce, it would feel darty and super responsive, and would end up spinning out due to PIO.

Are you saying you have lost a car due to a speeding gig? WOW they take that serious down there man! The front plate on mine is a dud (Cali plate on the front as we don't require dual tags up here!...But thanks for the heads up. never realy thought of it before.
