Removing front strut inserts
I'm replacing my front torsion bars as well as taking out the strut inserts to get them revalved.
I've had the struts completely off before, as well as the a-arms. If I don't plan on removing the a-arms, or even disconnecting the struts (hoping I'll have enough room to swing the top of the struts out past the fender so I can get the inserts out), is it more beneficial to remove the torsion bars first, or leave them in while I take the inserts outs? Seems like it would be one less thing to fight with if I take them out. Car is completely off the ground (on a lift). Thanks!! Todd

I did my strut insert replacement that way (these were Boge struts). I'm pretty sure the torsion bars were installed at the time. I don't think it would make a difference either way.

you should have more than enough room to clear the fender. you will need to compress them a little, which isn't that hard. I replaced mine by undoing only the single top bolt.

It's been a long time, but I think I had to remove the brake caliper because my brake lines were too short to swing the top of the strut out. It's not a big deal at all to do this.

strut replacement
I replaced mine without removing anything else. Keep in mind you will have to compress the new strut to swing it back into place. Provides some exercise!
