Replacing missing rear bar 74 coupe. Need advice.

Sometine during my dad's ownership, (since new, 74), the rear bar was removed. From the looks of the mounts, the 18 mm, (carrera) rear bar was too much for the mounts and the right side failed, leading to complete bar removal.

I drive the car a bit harder than my dad used to and want to put it back, (should be receiving a complete bar set upfrom fellow pelicaner today).

Are the Wevo mounts the way to go??

Does the fuel pump mounting bracket need to be cut off/re welded back to get a good install on the body bar mounts??

Are the Weltmeister poly drop link and bar mounts the way to go??

Any and all suggestions for refitting the bar welcome.

Yes the Wevo are the way to go - Buckley racing also makes a good mount.

After some hee hawing from my wrench - we decided to weld on some strengthening to the mount under the fuel pump as opposed to cutting and rewelding. The passenger side is is a WEVO unit.

I think tarrett sway bars are the way to go from a cost standpoint - many of the top suspension folks use them. Rebel racing has some nice products too.

I just ordered the Wevo rear bar mounts and graphite/poly bar bushings from our host.

Sherwood Lee's 18mm rear bar just arrived today, (thanks Sherwood).

Looking forward to getting the suspension a bit more balanced.

Chris,

Removing the fuel pump bracket gives you access for installing a reinforcing plate from the torsion bar tube to several inches rearward of the sway bar mount.
Rosette-weld the plate to the frame member and bend the bottom edge to the frame seam.
Weld to the frame seam about 1”, every other inch (you want moisture to drain).
The new sway bar mount welds to the reinforcing plate.
Leave provision to dribble rust inhibitor between the reinforcing plate and the chassis.

Rather than reinstall the pump in the rear, use the opportunity to move the pump to the front suspension cross member (like ’86->).
The later hose assemblies make this easy.

Do you have a photo of the mounting of the pump up front??

What is the best way to get the power to the front pump location??
