Gearbox 915 (for 3.2 series): how many types of 915 gearbox?
Hi!, i'am Danilo from Italy (sorry for my bad english)
please, how many types of 915 gearbox on 3.2 body? (i have 915/67 Euro) (eccept models CH/JAP(short gear..i suppose) or catalized models) I read in an old italian magazine on middle 85 the 915 change on 915/72? (good 1°sincro and shift, and other small improvements)

Between 1984-86 there were six 915 iterations:
915/67 915/68 915/69 915/70 915/72 915/73

Were the differences just the gear ratios?

The /67, /69 & /72 had the same ratios, and the /68, /70 & /73 had the same ratios. All units had the 8:31 final drive. The two '84 Turbo Look transmissions were fitted with 108mm diff flanges that were compatible with Turbo axles/CV joints. All '85/86 915s were fitted with 108mm diff flanges; they were set up to work with both Turbo Look models and regular narrow-bodied Carreras.

Both of those units were fitted with the same internals, except axle flanges, and both were RoW units that had external oil cooling. The /67 had 100mm diff flanges, the /72 had 108mm flanges. The small and large flanges can be interchanged.

With or without oil-cooler, ratios...
Differences are listed here Google-Ergebnis für http://www.pocg.eu/pages/technik/911/images/915_getriebe.jpg Last edited by carrera84; 07-08-2011 at 11:36 AM.. |

LSD was optional, and designated by the number "12" stamped into the housing at the serial number.
